Marcair on TV!

It came as a total surprise… “Do you also offer discovery flights?” dispatcher Glenn Herrington was approached. “Of course, we do”, was his prompt answer, and from then on everything went fast.

Cessna 172 at Northwest Regional AirportOn Tuesday morning, June 15, CBS11 TV’s news anchor and reporter Doug Dunbar, with camera man and producer, arrived at the Marcair hangar for the production of a special TV feature on discovery flights as a Father's Day gift. While the camera was installed in the cockpit, Doug Dunbar conducted a short interview with the excited recipient of the discovery flight, Aaron Anderson, and with the owner and assistant chief flight instructor, Marc Barth. And then they were ready to be strapped in the airplane. Slowly, they taxied to the end of the runway and after a few minutes of warm-up, Aaron Anderson, assisted by his flight instructor, took the airplane off the ground.

Half way into the discovery flight, a red aircraft, piloted by Doug Dunbar, showed up and joined up on the left wing of the Skyhawk, and together they performed some close formation-flying. Aaron Anderson was thrilled — who wouldn’t be — and genuinely impressed with his flight experience. After roughly 45 minutes, the safe landing at Northwest Regional Airport concluded the exciting flight.alt

Discovery flights for the low cost of $99.00 can be scheduled at Marcair just about anytime throughout the year by calling 817-430-0005.

The Father's Day feature aired on June 17, 2010, during “News at 4PM” on CBS11 as well as on TXA21 during “News First in Prime”. Our thanks go to Doug Dunbar and the CBS11 TV station.
