When you are ready to begin the journey of becoming a pilot, one of our friendly, expert flight instructors will walk you through the program step by step. You will learn comfortably at your own pace.

The FAA Private Pilot Certificate authorizes you to fly any single engine airplane carrying passengers. Some restrictions apply, such as required endorsements for more complex airplanes.

The FAA requires the following minimums:

Eligibility Requirements for the Private Pilot License:

• 16 years of age for flying solo
• 17 years of age to be eligible for the Private Pilot Certificate
• Must Speak, Read, Write, and Understand the English Language
• Must pass an FAA Medical Exam
• Must pass an FAA Written Test
• Must pass an Oral / Practical Exam prior to issuance of the certificate

Aeronautical Experience Requirements under Part 141:

• 35 Hours Minimum Flight Time
  • 20 hours of dual instruction
  • 7 hours of solo flight
  • 8 hours additional as required
• Dual Flight Instruction Includes
  • 3 hours Cross-Country
  • 3 hours Night Flight
  • 3 hours Instrument Reference
  • 3 hours Preparation for Practical Test
• Solo Flight Time Includes
  • 7 hours Total Solo Time
  • 1 Cross-Country Flight

• 40 Hours Minimum Flight Time

What to Expect

Within the first 10-15 hours of your flight training, your flight instructor will teach you the basic techniques to control and maneuver the airplane safely. You will conclude this first phase of your training with one of the most exciting experiences in your flying career: your first solo flight. There is nothing quite like it! The remaining flight hours are dedicated to learning navigation, night flight, and use of the National Airspace System.

Curriculum

In order to guide you through the training process, we will use the latest, state-of-the-art computer-based-instruction program (CBI). Developed specifically for Cessna Pilot Centers, the CBI allows you to study at your own pace. You learn through the latest technologies, including fully interactive graphics, full-motion, full-screen video and animated graphics. The CBI program also works hand-in-hand with your actual flight experience, allowing you to preview your next training flight before you even take off.

During the program, you will take an FAA written exam right on our premises for your convenience, and you will, at the end, take a flying test, called a check ride. In the course of ground school and flight training, you will become well prepared for these milestones. Besides, everyone at Marcair will be at your side to help you succeed.
